Laura Minton Breckenridge, J.D.

Laura Minton BreckenridgeLaura Minton Breckenridge was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Washington. She graduated cum laude from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She graduated from Willamette University College of Law where she was an editor and published author of the Willamette Law Review, the Outstanding Woman Law Graduate, and the recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Award.

Following graduation from law school, Laura practiced for four years in Seattle. In 1991 she returned to Skagit County to serve as in-house counsel at a local private investment company, focusing upon corporate work, entity formation, and the negotiation, documentation, financing, and closing of a number of complex real estate and other asset, loan, leasing, and business transactions. She also managed all litigation for the company, ranging from real estate matters to contract enforcement, collection, construction, employment, and insurance coverage.  In 2013 Laura joined Furlong Butler Attorneys and in the fall of 2016 moved her practice to Skagit Law Group, PLLC.

Laura is a business attorney, bringing her 30 years of experience to a wide range of complex business matter with an emphasis on real estate transactions, the purchase and sale of businesses, entity formations, contracts, commercial leases, and lending.

Laura is an involved member of the Skagit County community. She has been a regular classroom volunteer and parent group president in the Mount Vernon Schools. Laura has also co-chaired the Citizens for Mount Vernon Schools’ bond and levy campaigns and has served on the Mount Vernon School District Citizens’ Advisory Committee. Laura has served as legal counsel to the Skagit County Tulip Festival and adviser to its Board of Directors. She is a member of the Skagit Valley Family YMCA Building Campaign.
